Oreganο

4.00

Dried herb in a package of 50 g.
In the stony and sunny parts of Greece, a beautiful plant grows and blooms in the heart of summer with small round leaves and tiny white flowers.

The ancient Greeks drank a decoction of oregano to cure abdominal cramps and also against poisoning. The decoction of oregano is astringent, slightly bitter and therefore traditionally used in cases of diarrhea.

Description

Cultivation area: Thessaly

Scientific name: Origanum vulgare hirtum

Pairing: Oregano is the emblem of Greek and Mediterranean cuisine in general. With its spicy taste, it blends perfectly with the extra virgin olive oil and lemon. Many dishes in Greece are served or cooked with this simple sauce, such as goat, fish, potatoes, liver, feta, and even boiled zucchini. Oregano in many islands of the Cyclades and the Dodecanese is added to the bellies of grilled fish to flavor them.
